Team Clothing
– The Team Store
will remain
OPEN
until midnight on
Sunday, Feb. 10.
So, you still have time to order items. We need more interest in
ALL items (except cycling caps) to meet the Pactimo 5 item
minimum required for production. Be advised that we probably
will not have another Team Store open this year. This is your
only chance
to order long sleeve jerseys, jackets, vests, skinsuits,
warmers and booties. Please get your order in ASAP. The Team
Store will close on Sunday, and you will not be able to order
items after that date.
We have decided
for various reasons to eliminate the 'Yellow Jerseys' from the
Team Store. If you ordered one of these, you will receive a full
refund from Pactimo. Please email me if you have any questions
or concerns about this item.
Ladies, as a
result of members requests, we are offering the women's
Ascent short. You can only get this from the Team Store
right now. We have had an underwhelming response for this item,
and may not make the 5 minimum in order to have it produced - in
that case no one will get them - they will not be made. So
please, if you were considering an upgrade to a better fitting
short, please take a look at the Ascent short and order some.
We have had some
feedback that certain members have not been able to access the
Team Store as a result of the 'confirm' email being blocked by
spam or junk mail filters. Please email Cory Kramer if you have
had this problem. We can get your account approved through the
'back door' by the Pactimo representative.
Don't give up on
the Team Store! We need you to complete your order!
Contact: Cory Kramer.

Kit –

Team Store, such as team kits, jerseys, socks, bib or non-bib
shorts, please fill out the additional order form (Page 4 of the
TER 2008 Application) and mail it along with a check to Team
Evergreen Racing (C/O Team Evergreen Racing, P.O. Box 3804,
Evergreen, CO 80437) Make checks payable to: Team Evergreen
Bicycle Club. If you have any questions regarding clothing, please
contact Cory Kramer.

New
Mid Week Training Ride
- Starting next Wednesday February 13th,
TER will be offering a mid week training ride to focus on time
trial preparation. From the regular Saturday meeting place at
C-470 and Rooney Rd, the ride will begin at 3:30 PM and continue
until it gets dark. We will be doing laps in Bear Creek Lake
State Park between the dam and the campground at the South end
of the park. Those who can't make the start time can easily find
the group and join in at a later time. There are approximately
20 TER members signed up for the Cherry Creek Time Trial races
so we will concentrate on training for this event series. Once
the CCTT races start on April 2nd, this training ride will end
and the TER Wednesday night hill climb ride will start.

Many of us are
approaching the mid-way point in our base miles by now (no worries if
you’re not there yet – you’ve got some time, but start now!). It’s a
good time to incorporate some early season intervals and drills into our
training now.
By ‘early season’ I
mean that you’re going to keep things fairly controlled. The effort
should not be punishing and you should be able to recover rapidly
between. Set a limit (HR, speed, or power) that you will not exceed in
the interval. Start the set slowly allowing an increase in intensity
with each repetition. If you start to suffer during one of the
intervals, make it your last and account for that during your next
interval training session (i.e. start a bit slower). Keep it moderate
for now. On a scale of 1 to 10, make it a 7.
It’s going to feel
pretty good and the temptation will be to take on more. Don’t worry.
You’ll get a chance to go hard soon enough.
Depending on your total
training hours, you can take on one or two sessions each week.
In addition to fighting
the doldrums of the trainer and long slow rides, some intervals and
occasional speed work in the base-period can help considerably. Don’t
get carried away, though. It’s easy to go too hard right now and burn
out before the season gets going. Remember, the emphasis is still base
miles.
Happy Training, David
