Team News      (email contact Kevin Skruch)

  • Welcome to the TER weekly news.  This email news goes out to all team members early Thursday mornings.

  • TER is Open for new members - This email was sent to all current team members, as well as all active members of the Team Evergreen Bicycle Club email list that have selected "NewsRace" in their preferences.  If you want to change your preferences so that you don't receive this email each week, please click the link at the bottom of this email that says "preferences" and make the appropriate adjustments.

Membership Info      (email contact René Pirolt)

  • Membership - If you are interested in learning more about the race team, please contact René.

  • Team Clothing - Distribution of the Team kits will be this coming Saturday, March 22 at 9:00 to around 10:00 am - at the Morrison parking area where the TER training ride normally meets. If you did not pay extra for shipping your kit to you, it will be available there for pickup. If you paid the extra for shipping, I will not have it bagged and tagged for pickup at Morrison - instead it will have already been shipped the day before. (If you can't remember what you asked for, please contact Rene Pirolt or myself and hopefully we can get you an answer!) After 10:00 am or thereabouts, all kits that were not picked up will be transferred to Green Mountain Sports, where you can pickup anytime they are open.

The Team Store orders have not been produced yet, and are supposed to be shipped in mid-April. I'll let the team know as soon as they arrive. These will be available for pickup at Green Mountain Sports as well. For all team clothing questions, please contact Cory Kramer.

  •  If you have any questions regarding clothing, please contact Cory Kramer.

Randie Polidori is organizing housing and carpooling, as well as a shared meal on Saturday night, so please also email Randie if you are interested in sharing a condo with team members, or having her help reserve a hotel room. Rooms in Durango also go fast for the weekend of the race. Additionally, Randie is also willing to help us organize carpooling to and from the event. Please contact Randie  if you would like her to find you a room or help arrange carpooling.

TER participation in Team TT races.

There are two races coming up that offer a Team TT event. This involves 4 team members riding together in a paceline, where at least 2 riders need to cross the finish line in order to qualify for a place.

The two races are the Haystack TT on April 12, and the Rabbit Mt TT on Sunday May, 4.

Please contact Michael Raber ASAP if you are interested in participating in either of these events as we need to register as a team.

Physical Conditioning and Coaching       ( email contact David Newcomer)

  • Wednesday Workout – Pyramid Intervals

This week’s interval workout is going to be a burner! This is one from Friel’s Training Bible.

You’ll need a watch or cyclometer with seconds on it as we’ll be building and then decreasing by 1 minute increments. A heart-rate monitor is helpful for this workout as well.

After a good 10 minute warm up with a couple short and intense efforts, we’ll start our first interval heading east on the ‘flat’ road going toward the dam within the park.

Intervals of 1-2-3-4-5-4-3-2-1 minutes long with recovery equal to the current interval duration. Cadence is very high (105+) and with a HR Zone 5 (90 – 100% of your max) as our target.

NOTE: If you want to use the hill for the shorter intervals, that’s fine. But the longer intervals will be best performed on flatter terrain to ensure that you can maintain a steady hard effort for the full duration.

Recover at lowest possible effort!!! You can circle back and ride slowly with the team here. Put zero effort into the riding during recovery. Make the intervals count.

Cool down for 10 minutes after the ride and take some time to stretch.

Happy Training, David
