Mountain Bike Racing      (email contact mountain bike racing director Ted Benning)

  • Winter Park Series - Current roster.  Great job to all MTB racers at Winter Park this past weekend on a challenging hot and dry course! A quick word on Winter Park series standings: REMEMBER that TWO race scores get tossed out; so don't get discouraged if you see yourself in 10th place when you used to be 5th....the July DH event skewed the overall results. It always comes down to the last race anyway... Top finishers at the Crankwork Cross Country: Nigel Thompson-Clydesdale 1st; Ted Benning-Expert 2nd; Bob Campbell-Sport 2nd; Peter Rockwood-Sport 2nd; Coreen Wright-Expert 3rd; Karen Skruch-Beginner 3rd; Brian Meston-Beginner 3rd; Cory Kramer-Beginner 3rd. Also; GREAT JOB all MSC and short track racers this summer!!!

  • Boulder Short Track Series - is in its final week.

  • Mountain States Cup - if you plan to race any please let Ted know along with your NORBA number.

  • BE SURE TO IDENTIFY "Team Evergreen Racing" AS YOUR AFFILIATION ON ALL RACE ENTRY FORMS.  Schedules: (These are good to bookmark) Winter Park Series    Mountain States Cup

Road Training       ( email contact road racing directors Robin Waterman or Chris Porter)

  • Weekend training:

Saturdays: Many ride leaders are racing during the summer, so most Saturday rides will be "show and go" until August. This means that everyone should feel free to show up at Morrison and Rooney Rds, ready to ride by 9 am. Whoever is there can choose the route.

Sundays: There is always a ride organized by the Team Evergreen Club. All TER racers should consider joining in on these rides, as their training and racing schedule permits. Route and start times are listed on the TE website.

  • Boulder training ride - "Sunday Morning Fruit Loops" - Leaving from Downtown Boulder at the corner of 18th and Pearl Street in front of Full Cycle Bikes, we will head North on HWY 36 to Lyons, do a little scenic loop in Lyons, then head East for another loop of some farmland, and head back into boulder on N 75th Street. Total Distance is about 50 miles. Information?  Contact Jimmy Walter

  • Midweek training - Due to insufficient interest at this juncture in everyone's training and racing, we will no longer lead a regular mid-week training ride. Look for notice of TT/interval training mid-week, starting February, 2009, and an occasional opportunity to train on Wednesday.

Cyclocross       ( email contact cyclocross director Brian France

  • Races: The goal is to do well as a team at the best cyclocross rider/ team (BCR/BCT) events. These races are listed on the ACA website. The BCR/BCT races in September are:

9/13 Pikes Peak SuperCross #1 in Colorado Springs

9/14 Brecktobercross In Breckenridge (Octoberfest is in town that day..Beer)

9/21 Green Mountain Sports Cross #1 Denver (sponsor race!)

The beginning of October there are two races in Frisco that are good places to pick up points.

    10/4 and 10/5 Frisco Cyclocross.

  • Clinic: We will be having the TER CX Clinic on 8/31. Plan on starting at 9am and going for a couple of hours. We will talk about and practice, dismounting and mounting techniques, shouldering and running with the bike, obstacle negotiation as well as have a short practice race. Cyclocross bikes are not required; a mountain bike will do just fine. This clinic is intended for beginners, people looking to brush up on their skills and anyone interested in what cyclocross is about. Location: I am working to finalize that, more details next week. Please RSVP to Brian France (cbfrance1@yahoo.com) if interested so I can line up enough equipment and instructors.

  • Training:

Running: Build until you can run for 25-30 minutes. This will be your longest run. You just need to get your body ready for the demands of running short distances. Then start thinking about intervals, a couple of 100m sprints or repeat sprints up hills (steeper than you can ride, think stairs).

Riding: Your base is already there from the summer. The key event in races happen at the start and sprinting out of corners and obstacles. Perform intervals with 30 second sprint efforts every couple of minutes during the ride. Practice starting, put your foot down, then click-in and sprint for 30 seconds.

Contact: Contact  Brian France with any questions, suggestions and to RSVP for the clinic.

Volunteer      ( email contact volunteer director Chris Brockmeier)
  • Bear Creek Time Trial in September - Please contact Alan Boisvert aboisver@co.jefferson.co.us  if you would like to earn some volunteer credit helping out with this COBRAS sponsored race (Green Mtn Sports Series). You would work the first half of the race as a course marshall then race free the second half. The same person would need to do it all four weeks since the start list doesn't change, meaning you can't switch your number with someone else.  Volunteers  Race Flyer
