It takes
everyone -
A team has to come together for success, and TER has done that
by growing to a
diverse group of 120 very successful racers.
These include women, men, mountain bikers, ultra-distance
marathoners, triathaletes, and cyclocross racers. Putting
together an effective race team includes targeted races, expert
coaching, racing strategy, ‘domestiques’, and leadership. Races
don’t just succeed on their own and require volunteers,
cheerleaders, creative input, and overall sponsorship before you
can walk away with the trophy in your back pocket.
TER wins WP
again in 2008 - For the second year in a row, our TER-Black team
won the Winter Park mountain bike series. The team points race
was close up to the end with Team Chipotle and TER finally
wining by just 16 points. The TER-Purple and TER-White teams
also finished in the top 20, capturing 13th and 18th
respectively. Thanks to every one of our sponsors, we couldn’t
do it without you! Results at
www.epicsingletrack.com
For the
WP series,
we had many individual podium successes:
Ted Benning - 3rd Expert Men 45-49
Coreen Wright - 1st Expert Women 40-49
Bob Campbell - 1st Sport Men 50-59
Makey Towne - 3rd Sport Men 50-59
Peter Rockwood - 2nd Sport Men 60+
Cory Kramer - 2nd Beginner Men 50+
Nigel Thompson - 1st Clydesdale Men
Previous
cross-country 24-hour racer Makey Towne, lead the WP Downhill on
July 20th for TER-Purple in just over 22 minutes securing him
podium win for the 50-55 age group. No white knuckles here,
what’s the difference between disc or rim brakes anyway?
Coreen
Wright found her way into VeloNews with a
photo caption. She then came
back after the points race post-series for the 9/14 WP Super
Downhill taking a personal 2nd for the team. Particular thanks
to Frankie Benning for covering the WP series photography and
posting all her photos to the TER team site at
terracing.smugmug.com.
The Leadman
commeth -
It seems our originating TER leader Chris Harry and high
altitude Ben Sokolski have added distance running to their
repertoire. Chris and Ben got the Silver Rush "Silver King"
award for a new classification given to those who completed both
the Silver Rush 50 mile MTB race and then 50 mile run…the next
day!
Chris also
has the distinction of officially finishing the 2008 Leadville
Leadman Series. The series consists of a 26.2 mile trail run,
the 50 mile Silver Rush MTB race, the 100 mile MTB race, a 10K
run, and finally the 100 mile trail run just a week after the
100 mile MTB race. On an interesting note, he is the first
person in the series history to complete all the Leadman races,
and the new 50 mile Silver Rush Trail run which was held the day
after the 50 mile MTB race. ...And who said cyclists can't run!
InterBike
-
Team Evergreen Racing is attending
www.InterBike.com in Las
Vegas in September so we will have updates from our sponsors,
photos, and stories about the event. The outdoor demo-day kicks
off with a gentle road ride to Lake Meade. Last year it was lead
by Stuart O’Grady so fortunately there were no finish sprint
challenges despite Mario Cipolini being in town. Special thanks
to Corky at Green Mountain Sports for his team sponsorship and
support through Giant.
We will be
there first hand to review new products, cover the event, and
spend some much appreciated time with our very generous
sponsors:
Canyon
Cycles, Crank Bros, Defeet,
Ergon Components, Green Mountain Sports, Kenda USA, Maxxis, Qdoba
Mexican Grill, Rudy Project, Tommy Knocker, ROL Wheels, Koobi
Saddles, DT Swiss, Giant and Cyclo-Core
Thank you to
fellow Team Evergreen members Rolo, Ted, and Chris that
submitted updates. Photo downloads from Frankie and Jon
are available for free at
TERracing.smugmug.com and please
continue to forward any news snippets or photos to
JonFarinholt@Yahoo.com.
